**alcohol flush reaction** --- **アルコール赤面反応**

Flushing of the face, neck, and shoulders after the ingestion of **alcohol**, often accompanied by nausea, dizziness, and palpitations. The alcohol flush reaction is seen in approximately 50% of some Mongoloid (Asian) groups and is caused by an inherited deficiency of the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase which catalyses the breakdown of **acetaldehyde**. The reaction also occurs when alcohol is taken by people receiving treatment with **alcoholsensitizing drugs** such as **disulfiram** (Antabuse), which inhibit aldehyde dehydrogenase.\\

**[[alcohol]]**の摂取により顔面、首、肩が紅潮すること。しばしば吐き気、目まい、動悸を伴う。アルコール赤面反応は、モンゴロイド（アジア系）グループの約50%に見られ、**[[acetaldehyde]]**の分解を触媒するアルデヒド脱水素酵素を遺伝的に欠いていることが原因である。この反応は**[[disulfiram]]**（アンタビュース）のようなアルデヒド脱水素酵素の働きを抑制する**[[alcohol-sensitizing drug]]**を用いた治療を受けている人がアルコールを摂取した場合にも起こる。
