俺とおんぼろ車とメカニックの12のステップ
ステップ1：
俺は家の前に壊れたおんぼろ車をほったらかしていた。すっかり見切りを付けていたんだが、それでも、それ（自分）を修理できるなら何だってやってみようと決めた。
ステップ2：
俺にはそれは修理はできなかった。けど、誰かほかのヤツ（神）なら修理できると信じるようになった。
ステップ3：
俺は車をメカニック（神）にまかせることにした。
ステップ4：
俺はおんぼろ車の調子が悪いところの一覧表を作った（紙とペンを使って）。
ステップ5：
俺はその一覧表をメカニック（神とスポンサー）と分かち合った。
ステップ6：
俺は使い古した部品を取り外すのを手伝った（やる気になった）。
ステップ7：
俺は残りの部品はメカニック（神）にまかせることにした。
ステップ8：
俺たちは必要な部品全部の表（埋め合わせの表）を作って、それを一緒に調べてみた。
ステップ9：
俺は今までオイルやフルードをきちんとチェックなかったし、調子の悪くなったところを直してこなかったことを認めた。車のメンテは俺の責任なのに、俺はそれをしてこなかった。俺は修理を手伝おうと思ったが、不慣れでやり方がわからなかったんで、メカニックが直してくれるままにしといた。そしたら車はカッコよくなった！ 俺のやる気は神の恵みをもたらした。
ステップ10：
俺はオイルやフルードやタイヤなんかを、ちゃんと定期的にチェックした。そうしてねぇとエンジンがブルンと言わなくなっちまうんだ。大事なことさ。
ステップ11：
俺はトラブルがあったら、いつだってメカニックを呼んで、車を直してくれるように頼んだ。たまには「やあ」ってあいさつするためだけにも呼んだ。
ステップ12：
俺とメカニックはマブダチになった。だから一緒に国じゅうを回る旅をすることにした。そして道の途中で困ってるヤツがいたら助けてやった。そしていっぱいダチを作った。

The Steps: Another Version
Step 1: I had an “Old Clunker” parked in the driveway. I had just about given up on it, but decided to make a whole hearted attempt to restore it. ME
Step 2: I couldn’t fix it, but I came to believe someone could. GOD
Step 3: I turned the car over to a mechanic. GOD
Step 4: I took an inventory of all that was wrong with the “Old Chunker.” With Pen and Paper.
Step 5: I shared the inventory with the mechanic. God & Sponsor
Step 6: I helped take off the old parts. Became Willing
Step 7: I let the mechanic handle the rest. GOD
Step 8: We made a list of all the parts that were needed, and got together & went over them. Amends List.
Step 9: I admitted I hadn’t checked the oil & fluids properly, or fixed the other things that were going wrong. It was my resposibility to take care of the car, and I had not. I wanted to help, but being unfamiliar with the process, I allowed mechanic to fix things. The car turned out beautifully! My willing turned out a blessing.
Step 10: I checkd the oil, fluids, tires etc. more regularly, and when I didn’t the engine didn’t hummmm. Really Great
Step 11: I called the mechanic whenever there was trouble, asking him to fix the car. Some times just say HI.
Step 12: That mechanic & I had become such close friends…we decided to take a trip across the country and stopped to help all that needed it along the way. Made more Frineds.
